A Family Friendly venue or event is not just centred on physical access to and around a building; it is about access in a wider sense, looking at the best way to provide for family visits, give information and enable families to enjoy a sense of belonging. Many Hampshire and regional arts organisations are striving to become Family Friendly, with a regionally-agreed aim to offer equivalent experiences for at least one adult and one child. This means anything from providing the right kind of menus and easy access for pushchairs to making sure there are activity sheets for different age groups. Hampshire County Council’s ‘Discover Hampshire’ web pages detail countryside and sporting activities in the county for you to explore. Look out for events marked with the Family Friendly logo in arts organisations’ brochures and in HCC Recreation and Heritage publications such as Showcase. These will be trying to provide a truly Family Friendly experience. |
