| Looking for something for the family to do? Where they can all do things together? Welcome to familywhatson.com – for FAMILY FRIENDLY arts and leisure activities for you to see, do, explore and enjoy as a family, in the South East of England. There are masses of events, plays, festivals, concerts, exhibitions, workshops and other activities for family groups, and venues that welcome families and young people. At half-term and holiday times, look out for special activities aimed to make your family’s time together really creative. There are Family Friendly theatres, museums, galleries, concert halls, festival and activities all over the South East. We are gradually developing a 'gold standard' for family friendly activities - to show how much we value families of all shapes and sizes as key customers and audiences. Grandparents and their grandchildren adsorbed and entertained by pantomime slapstick, a parent and their small offspring concentrating furiously on making a head-dress out of feathers and coloured paper, aunt and niece at an exhibition together - treasured family memories start right here. There's a Family Friendly kitemark gradually creeping across the South East and already in use elsewhere - Manchester, Liverpool, Yorkshire & the South West. Where you see the cheery logo you know that you family will feel welcome and find something to enjoy. As well as looking through our events listings, check out Special Events and Stop Press for last minute events; if you are visiting other parts of the country, visit our Regional Links page for a selection of other Family Friendly arts websites. Fill in the information request form, with your details if you would like to be sent more details of Family Friendly events from different arts and leisure organisations and the Family Friendly newsletter twice yearly. If you can supply an e-mail address, we will be able to send you more regular updates. 2007 is European Union year of 'Equal Opportunities for All'. Audience Development South East is aiming to offer more audio description, captioning and signing of cultural activities and events in the region, through ADSE's family friendly campaign and also through the national Treasury-funded See a Voice programme. We want to offer audio description for blind and partially sighted customers of as many arts events as possible that have family appeal. If you want to attend such an event with a family member who would find audio description useful, please contact adse@hants.gov.uk in good time and we will see what can be organised. Need more information? Please e-mail ADSE (Audience Development South East) or contact us at ADSE, Mottisfont Court, High Street, Winchester SO23 8ND. |
